The New Role of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace,...): Redefining Political Actions

Mr Barrack Obama's decision to run for President was influenced by the fact that a page created on MySpace by supporters not connected to any official campaign quickly signed up thousands of supporters, which resulted in his election as President of the US January 20, 2009.

The rise of Social Media tool has shaped rapid and far-reaching changes around the globe, it increases worldwide inter-connectivity. People get easily connected together from continent to continent transcending time and space, allowing international network of interests and investors. Consequently; the Social Media users from around the world fill up popular chat rooms to argue and discuss a never-ending array of topics. Politics has not been untouched by the impact of Social Media tools. The ability of Social Media to impact political action in new and astounding ways cannot go unnoticed.

You should realize that joining a Facebook fan page of a candidate seeking political endorsement is not just a private conversation but a public acceptance and support for the campaign. There's no way the youth can be disfranchise and in this 21st century the one way to gain support of the youth is through social network platform made available by the internet.
