6 Ways To Induce Happiness: And Stay Happy

Happiness is elusive, hard to pin down and short-lived, how often have you been thinking:

If only I have this salary increase, then I will be happy
If only I could find someone that truly loves me, then I will be happy
If only this contract or business will be given to me, then I will be happy
If only I can give birth to only one baby, then I will certainly be happy
And so on and on it goes, but do you really think if you get these things you will be happy the rest of your life?

Things cannot guarantee happiness no matter the numbers of mansions you own, how robust your pay check or bank statement, numbers of cuties that flock around you, brands of posh cars in your garage(s). None of these material possessions will provide you with your much anticipated happiness.  What are some steps you could take to become happy?

1. Decide to be happy no matter what.

Wealth, fame, recognition, stimulants, and even loving and supportive family and friends cannot continually satisfy your desire for happiness. So what could give you this sort-after state that you sole desire: It is your attitude and your decision that counts? I have seen very rich men that hardly share a friendly smile and you will feel sorry for them, but I have also seen people that barely have just enough meal for them and their family and yet they radiate such happiness, such serenity you are tempted to envy them.
Be in the moment. Instead of worrying about what evil lurks around the corner while you are having a conversation with your wife, a friend or with your family outdoor, focus on the here and now — the smiles, the company, the conversation, approvals, attention. The outcome of an endeavor should not determine your joy; once you have made the choice to be happy your body begins to get excited and motivated and happiness comes to you effortlessly.

2. Laugh as often as you can and make it loud.

When you laugh at yourself when you fail or end up doing something stupid you are not only helping yourself come quickly out the feeling of depression that is certain to set in but you are actually turning the table around. The way out of a pit is not to dig deeper but to climb up, so the way out of failure is not depression but learning from that experience and quickly putting yourself in the position of creating the outcome you want.
Just anticipating a happy, funny event can raise your endorphins and other pleasure-inducing hormones and lower production of stress hormones. When you laugh out loud you are telling yourself that you are experiencing great times even if it’s the worst of times, so always anticipate happiness by catching on any comment that should make people laugh and just laugh out loud, try it now. Do not try this laughing at someone no matter what, but you can laugh with the person; they are two things all together.

3. Take a nap or find a way to relax.

Work and various activities have taken over our life like alien invasion of our life. How much of sleep do you have daily? For an adult 7 hours of sleep a day should be adequate or you could divide it into two, from 9pm to 12 midnight (use 12am to 2am for planning meditation and appraisals) and from 2am to 5am or 5.30am. Enough sleep can help reduce stress related diseases.

4. Sing a tune.

What’s gonna be gonna be
What goes up must come down
What’s gonna be gonna be
Ain't nothing you could do about it
Ain't nothing you could do about it
Ain't nothing you could do about it..

Studies find music activates parts of the brain that produce happiness — the same parts activated by food or relationship. It can also stimulant the mind to comprehend complex activities.

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
Think about it every night and day
Spread my wings
And fly away…

5. Prioritize and do first thing first.

One step at a time, a drop of water makes a mighty ocean, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. It’s nearly impossible to meditate, concentrate, or simply relax when you want to do everything at the same time. The more tasks you put on your mind at the same time the higher the risk of developing high blood pressure. Instead of checking e-mail as you work on other projects, turn off your e-mail function until you finish the report you’re writing. Or instead of replying to Facebook and discussing with someone at the same time why not finish the conversation first before replying your Facebook comments. There’s nothing like writing down your tasks to help you organize your thoughts and calm your anxiety. Checking off each item provides a great sense of fulfillment.

6. Help someone in need.

Most of the Foundation you see is built by people who want happiness by doing some super human deed of kindness to someone, someone that they may never meet.
John Rockefeller gave money to build modern hospitals in Asia for millions he will never meet
Bill and Melinda Gate foundation spend Millions of dollars for research and care of disadvantage people to derive happiness.
You don’t need to do such big task; you could begin by doing some small, little insignificant good to someone. There is that feeling of happiness and accomplishment that stays with you when you provide selfless service for people; it is such service that keeps you strong in your dark hours. So do more of such deeds and give your thought the added advantage of having a lot of things to be happy about.
