Reacting to the Governor Aregbesola’s position in the media at the weekend that the allegations against him in the petition was baseless and also took a swipe on Journalists for celebrating the petition in the media, Comrade Sulaiman insisted that all the information in the Justice Oloyede’s petition were correct, intact and truth and it is the reason why the State government were using all the means, including engaging Mrs. Folanke Solanke, SAN and Professor Itse Sagay, SAN with sum of #100 million to ensure that the petition did not see the light of the day.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Comrade Sulaiman and made available to newsmen in Osogbo yesterday, faulted Aregbesola response to the petition and blaming of Journalists for performing their constitutional role to the society, saying it was bad development for Governor Aregbesola to be an ingrate to media practioners in Nigeria, for what Journalists have done for him to reclaim his mandate in 2010 and as well to stabilize his government.
Disagreeing with Aregbesola over claiming of #204 billion funds accrued to the State from Federation Account,as against #508 billion alleged in the petition, rights activist maintained that Aregbesola forgot to explain what happened to the other funds like; Sure-P, Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC) fund, Excess Crude Oil, Ecological Fund, that came to the State for period of four years in his first term in office, from Federation Account, stressing that Mr. Aregbesola should bold enough to also tell the whole world how he spent other funds like; Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Federal Lawmakers Constituency allowances, Workers Pension Contributory Fund, Workers Cooperative Deduction loan, Bond fund and Commercial banks loan.
According to him, “Let us use this opportunity to tell the public that we have done series of private investigations into all the funds accrued to the State from left and right and we have seen that Mr. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is economical with the truth on funds the State obtained so far, which lead the State to the present financial quagmire. We have been saying it that only truth from Aregbesola can proffer lasting solution to the problem facing the State presently, not from any kangaroo summit. There are so many funds accrued to the State which Mr. Governor did not declare.
“But, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola has begun digging his government grave by launching a serious attack against Journalists in the land over publicity given to the Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede’s petition at the weekend .If Aregbesola is not jittery over the courageous jurist petition, why is he now attacking the men of pen profession that helped him to reclaim his mandate and stabilize his government over the publicity in the media accorded the petition ”.
CSCEO boss insisted that Mr. Aregbesola should let the public know what happen to other fund accrued to the State, if he wants the people to accept his acclaimed #204 billion allocations to the State and local government areas of the State because anybody that is preaching equity, must come with clean hand, describing Aregbesola as pathological and serial liar, who would never say the truth about the funds, accrue to the State.
Sulaiman therefore cautioned Mr. Aregbesola to stop blaming immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over his (Aregbesola) government woes, stressing that Aregbesola should stop pretending as if President Muhammadu Buhari administration was not releasing the monthly due allocation in the last three months to the State from Federation Account as being claimed during the last Jonathan’s administration, reiterated the position of the Coalition that Mr. Aregbesola has been the curse to the State and her citizens, because the governor has destroyed economy of the State beyond redemption which made it difficult for the people to eat three square meals again.
He then declared that Mr. Aregbesola has goofed for saying that the indomitable Justice Folahanmi Oloyede has lost her integrity, saying that Aregbesola was the person that does not have any integrity to protect again for dubiously siphoned the meager resources of the State into his personal purse, adding that Aregbesola might think that he has won the battle because the State House of Assembly gave him clean bill but the fact still remains that facts and figures contained in the petition would continue to hunt Aregbesola, even after leaving office as Osun State governor.
