MAY/JUNE WAEC 2015 Results of 13 debtor states seized by WAEC - 61.32% failed

MAY/JUNE WAEC 2015 results is out (Nigeria WAEC result online checker) but WAEC have seized the results of 13 states over N4bn debt because they failed to pay stipulated fees of government-sponsored candidates of students who sat for the May/June 2015 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

WAEC have in several media notified the affected states to pay off the N4 Billion registration owed.
On Monday when the result was release the results were withheld. release of MAY/JUNE WAEC 2015 results West African Senior School Certificate Examination Head of National Office, Charles Eguridu, said the Council won't release the states' results. He further said that indebted state will just get results release if they produce advance payment guarantees from reputable banks, so that the Council will be guaranteed that the charges will be paid.

The released result showed that More than a half (61.32%) of the 1,593,442 candidates who sat for the examination failed to acquire five credits including the obliged English, Mathematics. Just 39% (616,370 applicants) earned five credits including Mathematics and English while the results of 118,101 (7.41%) withheld for in regarding to different instances of examination misbehavior as the cases are being investigated and the reports of the examinations will be submitted to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC).

He noted that a further 95,373 applicants have been somewhat withheld for reasons inconsequential to examination acts or neglect.

Recently, the House of Representatives made a resolution urging affected state governments to pay the N4 billion registration fees owed the West African Examination Council, WAEC, for government sponsored candidates in the 2014/2015 examinations. The resolution, it said, was based on the fact that the said fees were the precondition for the students to sit for the examinations. It followed a motion brought under matter of urgent public importance by Linus Okorie, Ebonyi-PDP, which was unanimously adopted by members.

Okorie had expressed concern that over 600,000 candidates risked their West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, results being withheld by the council.

According to Okorie, “the threat, if implemented, would affect more than half of the 1.2 million innocent young candidates that sat for the examination, disrupt their academic pursuit and disorient them psychologically.’’
