Helicopter crashes into Lagos Lagoon

(Updated) An   helicopter has crashed into  a Lagoon  in Lagos, reports have said.The helicopter plunged into  the  Lagoon   in  Oworonsoki area of  the 3rd Mainland Bridge.

Some of those who saw the   helicopter   told Channelstv  that it made a loud noise before crashing  into the treacherous ocean.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Authority,NEMA are reported to have moved to  the area.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority said it was Bristow Helicopters which has registration number 5N- BDG-760540 which crashed Wednesday

Mr Fan Ndubuoke,general manager Public Affairs of NCAA also said the helicopter which was scheduled to land in Lagos had 12 people on board.

NEMA was also reported to have rescued 6 people alive while four died .The fate of two others could not be determined as they had not not been found at the time of filing this report.

This crash is the latest air mishap in Nigeria after a long period without air crashes and this incident is likely to  alert aviation officials of the need to be always emphasize safety.

The most recent crashes  of helicopters were reported in the north east where troops have been battling against Boko Haram .
