The Mindset Of A Corrupt Leader (Part II)

What was their thinking like before leadership was handed to them?

To understand the thinking of a man destined for leadership is undertaking to explain the workings of the brain. ‘If we understand the brain, we will understand both its capacities and its limits for thought, emotions, reasoning, love and every other aspect of human life,” said Norman Weinberger, a neuroscientist at the University of California, Irvine. The brain of man so closely associated with the mind of man that it is practically impossible to explain them separately.

The very nature of man makes him equipped to take decision that is tilted towards wrong than evil or good depending on what he chooses to do. So what kind of thinking does this fellow have that brought the opportunity to get into leadership position his way?

One of the strongest drives that propelled man to go out of his way to seek a greater good is the mindset acquired when pursuing a cause, a quest; nothing brings men quickly to leadership than pursuing a cause. A quest once conceptualizes in the heart and mind of a person immediately takes on a figure of life form literally. The Cause accelerates both desire and ambition, it creates a blazing longing to make something worthwhile (The Cause) to take place, it makes the you want to be better than what you are presently or to create a better future.

A potential leader must go beyond desire to a point of having a belief that that desire can be achieved, now even if that Cause is not yet apparent at this stage of total belief I must say at this stage that the desire will eventually come to being. The responsibility to be responsible lies within the leader and a leader that have not made a commitment to do the right thing guided by the golden rule ‘Do unto others what you want them to do unto you’ before gaining power will find himself literally swept over and over powered by the corruption that power brings in the heart of depraved man.

Commitment device: Setting a commitment device is absolute necessity if leadership will be able to control power rather than being controlled by it. How? Take a decision today before getting into a place of power to use it for common good and not for selfish purposes so that you can be able to have the will to resist the temptation that comes along with power, that’s why Democracy have stood the test of time because this system of leadership distributes power and authority bringing about check and balance.

The leader personally believe and advocate for hard work, to achieve and to overcome various difficulties and get everyone thinking about the bigger picture as well as see challenges as learning opportunities. The world around us is just the perfect reflection of our inner world. So what the leaders creates is an expression of what the leader represents.
