…because of the fewer number of places available for internships (industrial training), Undergraduates in our universities are unable to get critical skills that would prepare them for the 21st century job market. A web application that simulates the real world prototype where students are giving the opportunity to learn valuable skills in a virtual business environment can compensate for this internship placement shortage.

Need for More practical base Learning
The Skill that students utilizing e-learning technology in tertiary institutions could provides them greater opportunity to gain real-life learning experiences. Some of this E-learning technology are designed to help students access the essential working knowledge and experience and will help them develop specific skills and abilities to enter the workforce with confidence in other to be able to contribute to the development of the Nation Nigeria.
Using this virtual business environment, interns’ performance can be assessed using tools that can give accurate assessment of the level of students understand, comprehension and proficiency.
The world is moving in a fast pace and unless we begin to think of how we can of ways technology can enhance education in our tertiary institution am afraid Nigeria would become so reliant on other less endowed country for sustenance that we might begin to feel that we are not, if truly independent.
Educators must in a matter of urgency begin to look at how technology can help grow our institutions of learning.
The government should begin to take our higher institutions more seriously; James A Garfield ones said that "Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained." A country cannot grow beyond its level of education, with the incessant industrial unrest in our higher institutions. I wonder what king of tomorrow we are expecting.
Introducing E-learning in our higher institutions will present a reliable, comprehensive and flexible learning system that enables lecturers to deliver engaging content and students to collaborate effectively.
The Universities that embraces in addition to brick and mortal classroom a technology driven learning environment will definitely attract attention both from prospective undergraduate and policy makers
Where do our institutions stand?
When we incorporate E-learning Technology in our tradition classroom environment, our students are the ones that are better off, some of the gains of E-learning are as follows:
- Students don’t need to wait for the next class to benefit from lessons taught in the class when they can use E-learning tech; it brings the classroom anywhere the student is, with an internet connection, e-learning takes the classroom to the student, which opens up many more learning opportunities than in the past. That means students are able to participate in courses without leaving their current location, which means we are able to save cost and reduce time.
- Traditional classroom restricts numbers of students that fits into it, but with e-learning tech this barrier is eliminated because, a virtual class can accommodate an unlimited number of students easily. You are not limited by physical restraints of a classroom.
- We get better value for resources put into procuring it, while reducing overhead.
- E-learning along with our other academic tools helps build a foundation for continuous learning that is credible, current, effective and relevant.
Can we do without tech in our schools?
Yes of course, making it obligatory could reduce some of its effectiveness.
Online learning is a great idea however but what happens to those student that learn better without it.
Technology comes to make our life easier, so we must not over-flog its importance in educating and loose its purpose as if E-learning in essence is the end itself but rather a means to an end.
