Growing a healthy political opinion:
At work there are people who cannot handle talking about politics without blowing up and making a scene.
However, politics is something that always elicits discussions. Some people do nothing but discuss politics, it makes them crazy. I'm looking for a promotion and I think they may be trying to make me look bad. What can I do? As an individual I would suggest that you be honest with them. If there are confrontations and verbal outbursts or arguments in the office when you "talk" to this person about politics simply refrain from getting into conversations with them about it. If they push you about the subject simply tell them that you prefer not to have problems and arguments at work and will "refrain" from discussing politics with them until they can do so in a civil manner.

They may become "upset" and walk away, Let them go. You may be right that they may be trying to set you up for a fall....jealousy is one of the biggest problems in offices and this person may be jealous that you are up for a promotion and may be looking for a way to make you look bad in front of your supervisors and peers. I wish you the best.
Think of this, how many careers, relationships and future job opportunities have been destroyed by office politics? Numbers are in question but the sad news is, this is present in every company whether small, medium or large enterprises, government or privately owned. We do not want to be a victim of politicking, so below are some tips to cultivate a positive political lifestyle:
- Choose your words completely and always think of the consequences.
- Even when personal comments are made, refrain be in charge, use this saying by Gandhi, “hate the sin, love the sinner”, or from Jesus."Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect”
- Forgive them but you may not forget but forgive since you need to learn from experience that’s why you may not forget.
This concern is not just prevalent with the matured and elderly but also amongst the youths. One side argues that the role of young people is just to study, and leave the affairs of governance to the adults. The focus of young people should be on their studies, so that later on when they are already adults they will be ready to take over governance. The other argues that studying does not limit one to the four corners of the classroom. Participation in the governance process while young is a form of study or training for young people. In these arguments, the question lies on the preparedness of young people to take on or participate meaningfully in governance. Similarly, if young people are supposed to participate in governance, the questions that will be asked are:
Are they interested or do they have the motivation to participate?
Are they prepared to or do they have the capacity to engage?
In the context of ensuring accountability from government, can the youth handle social accountability?
They key to positive political lifestyle is consideration and peaceful co-existence.
.....Living a profitable lifestyle
